BREAKING NEWS: Thunderstorm Watch active for Columbia, Edgefield, Lincoln, McCormick and McDuffie counties

WEST COLUMBIA — The National Weather Service in West Columbia has issued the second watch of the year: a Thunderstorm Watch.  This watch, like the one issued by Peachtree City, Ga.,  lasts until 15:00.

The following counties are under Thunderstorm Watch: Columbia, Edgefield, Lincoln, McCormick, McDuffie and Saluda.

This is the second severe weather watch of 2014.  Both watches are affecting parts of the Central Savannah River Area.

Saluda County is also under the watch. That is something I didn't catch at first, because the Augusta NOAA radio station does not transmit watches or warnings for Saluda, Orangeburg or Hampton counties. That is something that needs to be fixed.
