Serious talks commence on possible outlet mall in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. — Very serious talks have commenced to get an outlet mall in Augusta, near Cabela's on RIVER WATCH PKWY.
The announcement is expected by January 31, and groundbreaking work could begin as soon as October.
The new shopping center is expected to be around 500,000 square feet (55,555 square yards). The Georgia Theater could possibly be moved as well.
Ben Carter, from Carter Enterprises, is behind the plan. He's the same man working on outlet malls in Savannah and in Atlanta.

OLD DIBBLE RD shut down after power line catches dangling tree on fire
MONTMORENCI — OLD DIBBLE RD is currently shut down as crews begin cleaning up the tree debris after a power line ignited a dangling tree on fire.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that the 400 block of OLD DIBBLE RD is still shut down as crews repair the power line. A dangling tree caught fire when it hit the power lines, causing the tree and power line to fall.
Aiken Electric Cooperative said the tree tore down two phases of wire, but power should be restored to residents at this point. Only residents who live on OLD DIBBLE RD are allowed to travel on that portion of highway at this time. All thru traffic is still being prohibited.
