Columbia sex offender arrested for sexual exploitation of minor

Sex offender arrested for sexual exploitation of minor

COLUMBIA — A sex offender registered because of a conviction for possessing child pornography in North Carolina ten years ago has been arrested again.  And guess what he was arrested again for?

If you said possessing child pornography, you are correct.

Thirty-six year old Robert Wayne Linton, Jr. of 1717 Crestview Ave was arrested on May 16 after the United States Postal Service initiated an investigation into the distribution of child pornography.

The Richland County Sheriff's Department, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, participated in executing a search warrant at Mr. Linton's residence.  A search of Mr. Linton's computer revealed child pornography, authorities said.

Mr. Linton is charged with nine counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor.  If convicted, he faces up to ten years imprisonment on each count - which could wound up being a life sentence if he is convicted on even six of the nine charges. [WIS News 10]

Effingham County man jailed for raping four-year-old girl

SPRINGFIELD, GA — A man is in jail after he was arrested Thursday.

The man is a registered sex offender and was previously convicted for child molestation in Statesboro in 2006.  He was on probation from those charges.

"It is one of those things where it is a pretty despicable crime.  The things he did to this child is something I can't really talk about here on TV.  Like I said, this guy is apparently a repeat offender now.  He has done this before.  He molested a child in Bulloch County several years ago.  He is on probation.  He is a registered sex offender," said David Ehsanipoor, Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

Robert Hart, age unknown, was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and cruelty to children in the first degree. [WTOC]
